Best Wakeboard Ropes and Handles for 2022-2023

Don’t let the idea of a simple rope fool you. A Wakeboard Rope and Handle is just as important as the Wakeboard you ride on. Wakeboard Ropes will usually have no stretch, because a wakeboarder relies on their ability to stand up on a wakeboard by pulling on a stiff rope. If you select an inferior Wakeboard Rope, your best tricks and maneuvers may stop short with your face hitting the water. The Best Wakeboard Ropes and Handles will give you the strength and confidence to perform to the best your ability.

How-To: Buy the Best Wakeboard Ropes and Handles

There are a few things to consider when choosing a Wakeboard Rope and Handle such as Length, Material, and Handle. Getting the right Wakeboard Rope and Handle can vastly improve your time out on the water. Don’t let something as simple as a rope ruin a good time. Invest in the proper equipment so you can maximize your enjoyment wakeboarding.

Before you consider purchasing a wakeboard rope and handle, take time to familiarize yourself with what types are out there and some of the terminology.

Length:

The typical length of a Wakeboard Rope can vary between 55 feet to 75 feet, depending upon the boat wake, experience level, and preference. Beginners should start around 65 feet. If you’re having some difficulty clearing the wake, try shortening the rope, which will put you closer to the boat and in the narrower section of the wake. Once you start getting better, you can gradually increase the rope’s length to generate more speed into the wake and get more air as you pop off if it.

Materials:

Dyneema – no-stretch dyneema rope outperforms steel and other rope materials in both tension and bending fatigue. It also stands up to salt water and strong UVs.

Poly E – Poly E stretches two to three percent of its length under normal circumstances, which gives you enough flex to absorb the shock of cutting through a boats wake. Better for beginners but not so much for more experienced riders.

Spectra – Spectra is 10 times stronger than steel yet is ultra lightweight. Spectra ropes are durable, have zero-stretch and will float.

Handles:

Materials – Handles are made with EVA, aluminum, or carbon fiber. Grips are made from either rubber or chamois or memory foam that’s stamped with a texture to help increase grip.

Length – Handles are between 5 to 15 inches wide, with wider handles allowing you to perform tricks easier.
